The online Master of Science in Education with a major in Instructional Technology delivers a greater understanding of digital-age learning with the skill set to integrate current and emerging technologies into contemporary pre-K–12 and higher education learning environments.

Earn Your Certificate with an Internship

To earn your Pa. Instructional Technology Certification alongside your master’s degree, you’ll complete a 3-credit internship where you can apply your insights directly in classroom, school, and district settings.

Learn From Technology Leaders

Our program gives you the opportunity to learn from technology leaders in the field throughout your course of study. With this knowledge, many of our graduates go on to assume technology leadership roles in their districts, intermediate units, or higher education institutions.

Gain Hands-On Experience

 The 100 hour internship experience provides on-site, hands-on experience with a technology leader to develop your technology leadership skills in preparation for assuming a leadership role upon completion of the program.

Tuition & Aid

Tuition for graduate programs in education for the 2024-25 academic year is $571 per credit, or $1,713 per course. Deferment is available for employers who reimburse tuition and financial aid is available for those who qualify.

Careers & Outcomes

Graduates of this program often seek positions as district, IU, or collegiate technology coaches and district technology directors. The majority of those enrolled in this program transition from classroom teacher to technology leader in their home district.

Additional Information

The degree consists of 30 credits. An additional 3-credit internship is required for the Instructional Technology Specialist Certification. 30 graduate credits are required for the degree but those who elect to also participate in the 3-credit internship for certification will earn 33 credits total.

A maximum of 6 credits of graduate work already completed at another accredited and recognized institution may be applied toward the requirements for the program. Transfer credits cannot be more than six years old.

Applying for the Pennsylvania Instructional Technology Specialist Certificate also requires an Instructional Level I or II certificate from PDE. Students who do not hold a valid Level I or Level II Pa. teaching certificate must achieve a Pennsylvania qualifying score in the three pre-professional Praxis 1 tests (reading, writing and mathematics) before they can be recommended to PDE for Instructional Technology Specialist Certification.
